A supplier's own format
Standard e-invoices such as UBL, CII, Factur-X and ZUGFeRD have fixed fields, and Nuntiq reads them directly. A supplier's own XML is different. Its field names, codes and rules are written down in a specification that only that supplier uses.
Mapping a format like that usually means sitting down with the specification and working through it field by field: which element holds the invoice number, which date is the due date, how a price quoted per 100 kilograms becomes a unit price.
What happens in the video
- AI Analyze drafts the mapping. It reads the sample invoice and the specification together and proposes which value in the file goes where in Nuntiq.
- A person reviews and tests it. I check the draft, then run the sample invoice through the tester. Nothing goes live before that.
- Save and activate. An identification rule tells Nuntiq which files use this format; in the demo it is the file name. After activation, files in this format are picked up automatically. In daily use they arrive through the API or over SFTP; in the demo I upload one by hand.
- The invoice arrives. The original file is stored exactly as it arrived and can't be changed or deleted afterwards. Because the supplier sent only data and no PDF, Nuntiq generates an invoice image from it, and the invoice is ready for the next step.

Who maintains formats like this?
Your IT team can maintain file formats in the customer portal, with their own view and manage rights, next to connectors and scheduled tasks. Or your implementation partner looks after them for you.
Try it with the same files
These are the two documents used in the demo. Both belong to a fictional supplier, Newhaven Ore Techniek.
- Sample invoice Invoice NHX-2026-118734 in the supplier's own XML format. XML (4 KB)
- Interface specification NHX Billing Message 4.2, the supplier's 3-page spec. PDF (10 KB)
